How to become closer to God, be a better Christian, and experience the best life that you have ever known!!

The Happily Married Life .

These words, “Will you marry me?” are often the highlight of a couples relationship. But what do you do when the honeymoon phase is over and cracks begin to show? Understanding what the Bible says about marriage and the roles of the man and woman within the household can help keep your marriage together.

The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
Genesis 2:18 NIV

I know sometimes we get tired of saying the same things over and over again.. the repetition of “did you do this?” and “don’t forget to do that!” can be tiring on anyone but we have to remember that one of the reasons that God put us on this earth was to be helpers to our husbands.

Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church.
Ephesians 5:22-23 NIV

Ok ladies all of us tend to automatically get an attitude at just seeing the word ‘submit,’ but lets discuss exactly what this means!
The definition of submission is being inclined or ready to submit; unresisting or humble obedience.
We get married with hopes that the man that we love will make good decisions concerning our future together. We believe that they will always have our best interest at heart and that they will always put us first (on the worldly level). So what makes us so resistant to submitting? If the man we love is making the right decisions and is honoring his responsibilities as a husband why is is so hard for us to just support their choices? We have to remember that no one is perfect and take our husbands off the pedestal we have placed them on.

Words for thought:
To question your husbands authority is to tell God that you question his decision of your husband. Instead, go to God and pray that your husband will make the RIGHT decisions.

Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.
Colossians 3:19 NIV
Love your wives, do not yell at them or be impatient with them!

In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
Ephesians 5:28 NIV
Love your wives just as much as you love yourself!

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her
Ephesians 5:25 NIV
Love your wives and be willing to give your life to and for her!

Men it may seem like alot to live up to but if you keep God first in your marriage then you will have joy and your marriage WILL be worth it!

That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.
Genesis 2: 24 NIV

The first mistake people make in marriage is trying to maintain their independence after committing themselves to another person. When you get married the Bible says you become ONE with your spouse. If you want to be independent, why get married in the first place?

All of your needs are intended to be met within marriage and you violate your marriage when you..
1. Commit adultery.
2. Abuse your significant other. This can be physically, mentally, emotionally, or spiritually.
3. Become entangled in addiction. Addiction within marriage is anything that causes a rift between husband and wife.. (internet addiction, pornography addiction, alcohol or drug addiction, gambling addiction etc)

Divorce happens for two reasons..
1. The two people who are married were not actually meant to be married in the first place.
Make sure before you even consider marriage you seek God. Marriage is the biggest commitment you will ever make in your life and if it is not of God it is not a good thing no matter how much you think you love the person.
2. The hearts of those in the marriage have become hardened.
There is no such thing as a perfect marriage, someone is bound to mess up at some point in time and that’s exactly when the devil will try to step in! Don’t allow him to come in and mess up something that God had planned for you before you and your spouse had even met!

Many times conflict arises in marriage when people forget the vows that they made on their wedding day.

Vows generally go something like this, “I will love you, comfort you, and honor you until death do us part.”
“I will love you” translation: You will know you’re loved because I’m going to be the one to do it.
“I’m going to comfort you” translation: You will be comfortable with me. When you come to me, you will be comforted.
“I’m going to honor you” translation: In everything we do, your needs will come before mine.
“until death do us part” translation: Until one of us kicks the bucket.

Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” Mark 10:9
God doesn’t condone divorce. 2 or 3 years into the marriage people decide that they are no longer content with their spouse and decide that they are just going to end their marriage, but you must keep in mind that you not only promised yourself to your spouse, you made these commitments to God!

Of course the most important thing to remember when it comes to marriage is to keep God first and go to him in prayer continuously for your marriage
Also remember the things that are most important to a healthy and happy marriage

5 needs of a woman:
- unconditional love
- intimacy (mainly talking.. yes we ladies LOVE to talk)
- spiritual intimacy
- encouragement
- friendship

5 needs of a man:
- unconditional love
- intimacy (mostly sex.. WE KNOW WE KNOW guys!)
- companionship
-spiritual connection

With the guidance of God and by following his word, your marriage will not only last, but it will be a happy and successful one!

This is the LORD’S doing; it is marvelous in our eyes. Psalm 118:23
